Public Health - Making it Happen

The South West Public Health Development School provides a unique opportunity for people working in a variety of fields within public health to expand their public health horizons in the beautiful setting of Dartington Hall in Devon.

The programme includes a vibrant mix of workshops and learning activities and will provide an excellent opportunity to consider how to maximise public health opportunities and truly make a difference.

Delegates can choose to attend one or both days and have the opportunity to attend a dinner to network with colleagues from across the region.

Who Should Attend?

The Development School is open to anyone working in a public health related field from across the South West. We welcome professionals from a variety of organisations and settings, from local authorities, CCGs, NHS England, Public Health England, Health Education England, voluntary and community settings.

Plenary Debate

Please note that again this year we are hosting a plenary debate at the end of Day 2. To draw the school to a close, the debate will focus on the increasingly key issue of working with the private sector. We will be looking specifically at the food industry and posing the question ‘Food industry: Public health friend or foe?’ The debate will have input from representatives from the food industry and give everyone the chance to consider this topical dilemma.

Accommodation

This year we are able to offer everyone the option of staying on site at Dartington Hall. Rooms are available within the student residential buildings to the side of the Hall for all delegates. Accommodation provides basic student rooms within a shared block, with breakfast available in the White Hart Restaurant and free parking. Rooms will cost £50 per person per night.

Please request a room at Dartington on the booking form.

Workshops

Full descriptions of the workshops on offer will be available nearer the event. Registered delegates will be contacted as soon as workshop booking opens to make their selection.
