The South West Public Health Specialty Training Programme’s Annual Training Conference 2015

Thursday 12th November 2015

All registrars, specialty tutors, academic, educational and activity supervisors in the South West are invited to this conference. The aim of the event is to take stock of the past year’s training activities whilst looking forward and planning for next year. Key points from the day’s discussions will be fed back to the Regional Training Committee for consideration in planning for the development of the Specialty Training Programme locally.

Conference Aims:

  • To provide an opportunity for Specialty Registrars, Tutors, Educational, Academic and Activity Supervisors to receive and discuss updates on key issues for the Specialty Training Programme in the South West and in particular:
    • Specialty training programme update,
    • Workforce planning update,
    • E-portfolio update,
    • F2 Programme and public health.

 

  • To provide an opportunity for professional development by participating in two experiential workshops:
    • Working with Health Care
    • Academic Training

 

Learning Objectives:

Training Conference delegates will be able to:

  • Identify how the updates to the Public Health Speciality Training in the South West impact upon their practice.
  • Describe the role of public health workforce planning in the South West.
  • Summarise the changes to the e-portfolio and identify how the updates affect their use of the system.
  • Describe the role of F2 public health training placements and how this may be applied to their practice/experience.
  • Critically review the role and knowledge and skills required of specialist public health practice within a healthcare setting.
  • Identify the key features and components of a successful ‘Academic Public Health’ placement.
